RE: Rt 89 from Kanab thru Utah to Page, AZ

I live in Cottonwood, AZ. My recommendation for all stretches is to AVOID 89-A. Regular 89 should be fine.

RE: Lakeside Campsites in Arizona?

Although I have not yet camped there, Fools Hollow Lake State Park around Show Low is supposed to be nice. I don't know how close to the water you get. Down towards Phoenix is Lake Pleasant. On Roosevelt Lake is Cholla campground. With a trout pond and on a river is Dead Horse State Park in Cottonwood. Check out the AZ State Park website...most of the state parks are around water in this desert land.

Northwestern Ontario to Arizona via Cody or Tetons

I'm looking for a route back from the Kenora area of NW Ontario to the Sedona area of Arizona...preferably via Cody, WY or the Grand Tetons. I prefer less mountain passes if possible.(i.e. NO Beartooth pass) We don't have as much site seeing time on the way back...but we have room for a 2-3 day stop in the middle. I'm not seeing a good way to get to the Tetons from where we are. Thanks for all suggestions!!

RE: RVing in North Central New Mexico

If you check out the rv-dreams.com journal...Linda and Howard are in Chama and there is no grocery store for miles and miles and miles. Check their entries for more info. on the area. www.rv-dreams.com

RE: Munds RV Park

We boondocked nearby and stopped in to dump...their website quoted the price wrong...and the office wanted $20 to dump. No thanks. Quite a few park models.

Thank you!!

Best route from Custer, SD to Medora, ND

It appears the most direct route from custer to medora may have some steep grades and curves. Is that true? What is the best route?

RE: rio verde rv park

I would not go to Rio Verde in Cottonwood. If you desire to stay in Cottonwood, check out Dead Horse Ranch State Park. You may be able to get a workkamping position there. The above posters recommendations for the Camp Verde area parks are right on!

RE: On average, how many miles do you drive per day?

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm looking at 350-400 on longer driving days.

On average, how many miles do you drive per day?

I'm just curious. How many miles do you average per day on the road?

RE: Dishwasher Detergent in black tank?

To answer vanman's question, the geomethod has worked better than the pricey chemicals we bought at CW...and this looks like a great alternative!

RE: Winnipeg to Las Vegas

We travel in the summer from Arizona to SiouxNarrows, Ontario. Honestly the worst stretch of roadway is between Pembina, ND and Kenora,ON! We usually try to break the trip into two sections, with a longer stay in the middle somewhere. But I think you should plan on 5-6 travel days. Lots of great country in the middle if you have time!

RE: Must do's in Sedona, AZ

Just remember that it is HOT this time of year...please keep that in mind when planning your activities. There are some great suggestions already made. The Verde Canyon railroad is very nice and has AC- go for the upgraded car. Glen Canyon is a LONG way to go from Sedona, you may need to stay up there. Jerome is an interesting place to visit...eat at the Haunted Hamburger at the top of the stairs. Flagstaff is a great place this time of year- much cooler (temps)than Sedona!

RE: Flagstaff area

One mile north of Munds Park - exit at Willard Springs and go left up past trash compactor...lots of sites Also checkout the coconino national forest website- they detail some dispersed camping areas. There are so many places to stay! Hart Prairie area is real nice on the back side of the peaks.

RE: US 89 in Southern Utah

Just don't take 89A through Marble Canyon...hope you're enjoying the Verde Valley! My home turf.

RE: Sedona, AZ

SLOW down and you'll be fine. You also don't go through Jerome by passing through Cottonwood. And Sedona will suck up your money.

RE: Summer spot in Northern/Mountains Arizona

Distant Drums will be Phoenix temps minus 5-7 degrees...so it will still be HOT. It does cool down in the evenings which is a difference. Lo Lo Mai being on the creek will be a bit cooler but still only about 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix temps. Definitely head North a bit further. Another nice area is past Payson in the Christopher Creek area.

RE: Campground near Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska?

Thanks for the recommendations! I definitely hadn't come across Haworth on my own...that sounds like a nice option :-)

Campground near Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska?

I looked up the Omaha visitor's bureau and it looks like there are slim pickins for RV parks in the area. How far away from the zoo is Mahoney state park? Or is there a better option? I'm looking to stop and spend a day at the zoo this summer on a return trip from Canada...so we'll have the dogs and will need electric. Thanks!!
